MS in Health Informatics (On-Campus and Online) Admission Requirements
In addition to the George Mason University General Admission Requirements:
Degree Requirement
- A BA or BS degree (or equivalent) from a Mason-recognized institution is required. While the major is not a criterion, basic-level courses in computer science, mathematics, and statistics are expected.
GPA Requirement
- An undergraduate GPA of 3.25 (on a 4.0 scale) is preferred.
Experience
- Although not mandatory, applicants with at least one year of professional work experience in a medical or health-related organization or information technology are preferred.

- The admission process is competitive, with applications considered for both fall and spring semesters.

Additional Information for International Students
- The MS in Health Informatics is classified under CIP code 51.2706 (Medical Informatics), a STEM field. This classification allows international students to apply for Curricular Practical Training (CPT) or Optional Practical Training (OPT) upon program completion. For further guidance on CPT/OPT opportunities, please contact George Mason University’s Office of International Programs and Services.
International applicants must submit:
- Evaluated transcripts for all degrees obtained outside the U.S. (refer to George Mason’s international transcript submission guidelines).
- Official test scores demonstrating English proficiency, if applicable.

BAM Pathway Admission Requirements
Eligibility
- Applicants must complete a minimum of 60 credits.
Letters of Recommendation
- Two letters from a faculty member are required.
Registration
- Accepted students can register for graduate-level courses after completing at least 75 undergraduate credits and any course-specific prerequisites.
