Mason Team to Identify Modifiable Risk Factors for Infant Obesity

August 28, 2014 - While most obesity research focuses on weight gain in school age children, few studies have examined predictors that begin in early infancy. Funded by an NIH initiative entitled, Biomedical and Behavioral Research Innovations to Ensure Equity in Maternal and Child Health (BRITE), Dr. Kathleen Gaffney (PI) and Dr. Panagiota Kitsantas' (Co-PI) research will address modifiable risk factors for rapid weight gain in the first 6 months of life for infants of low income Hispanic immigrant mothers.
