Health Administration and Policy Faculty Release New Book on Managing Integrated Health Systems

Managing health systems is an evolving discipline as a result of the rapidly changing marketplace, the Affordable Care Act, advancement in patient care and safety, and changing societal expectations. To meet the needs of health care executives, managers, and those studying the health care industry, John (Jay) Shiver, assistant professor and undergraduate coordinator, and John Cantiello, assistant professor in the Department of Health Administration and Policy, have edited a new book, Managing Integrated Health Systems.

The book features contributions from experts in the health field and academia and covers topics such as finance and the changing health economy, legal aspects, ethics managing human capital, patient safety, information technology, quality improvement, and public policy. The book also contains individual interviews with seven key thought leaders in the field, including Don Berwick, Jeff Goldsmith, and Sister Carol Keehan.
